2-IMG_6068More than 400 graduates from the Institute for Tourism Studies (IFT) bowed to their teachers yesterday afternoon in a congregation ceremony as the institute head Fanny Vong wished them a promising future.
The school’s president, who is positive about the employment prospects to be found in the tourism industry, stated to the 443 graduates that the upcoming “world-class hotels and large resorts” in Cotai, together with the development of the neighboring areas of Hengqin and Nansha are slated to bring in more opportunities to local students.
She called on them to move forward into their future equipped with the knowledge which could help prepare themselves for the rising challenges therein.
The region’s Chief Executive Chui Sai On, echoed Fanny Vong’s remarks on the regional strategy and expressed his wish that the institute, which is in the midst of its 20th anniversary, would continue to produce more talented individuals in response to local tourism developments.
With the East Asia Hall situated on the former campus of the University of Macau, now granted to IFT by the government, under renovation, Vong said the additional resource would help improve the quality of education.
“In addition to the East Asia Hall, we can also use the library and other spaces at the former University of Macau campus, so as to cultivate a better teaching and learning environment for the faculty and students,” she remarked. AU
