The Pig is the 12th animal of the Chinese zodiac because, according to legend, the Pig was the last of the animals to arrive at a party. The Pig was late because he slept too much. In another version of the legend, a wolf destroys the Pig’s house and he has to rebuild it before leaving for the party. Either way, being the last to come, he was placed as the 12th animal of the zodiac.
