Airport records 6pct rise during ‘golden week’

2-renato-marques-6I0A8385The Macau International Airport Company (CAM) reported that during the period October 1–7, known as the “golden week,” over 120,000 passengers landed in the region, with aircraft movement reaching over 1,200.
CAM highlighted that these figures represent a 6-percent increase in passenger numbers and a 5-percent increase in aircraft movement when compared to the same period last year.
Despite the two typhoons “Dujuan” and “Mujigae” bringing heavy rain and strong winds to Macau and other cities around the Taiwan Strait, the operations of the airport were not significantly affected and nor was the interest of travelers to and from Macau.
According to CAM, the airport operated smoothly and in an orderly fashion, with daily inbound and outbound flights recording over 155 takeoffs and landings.
The airport management company has also released total figures, dating from the start of the year, that show that MIA recorded a total movement of over 4.4 million passengers up to October 7.
