A new 24-hour Report and Assistance anti-human trafficking hotline will commence operation from July 1 this year. According to a statement, the revamp is intended to optimize the functioning of the telephone hotlines to combat human trafficking and to improve the usage and efficiency of assistance services. A 6-month transitional period will be allocated before the expiry of the two existing telephone lines. The merged line (2888-9911) will be attended to by designated staff of the Public Security Police Force.
Young athletes depart for Dutch competition
The Macau delegation of 18 young athletes to the 49th International Children’s Games departed for the Netherlands on Tuesday. The event is taking place in the city of Alkmaar from June 24 to 29. More than 1500 athletes between the ages of 12 through to 15, hailing from about 80 cities worldwide, will compete in track and field, golf, football, tennis, swimming, gymnastics, judo, beach volleyball and volleyball events. Macau’s athletes will compete in track and field, swimming, judo and tennis competitions.
