The local government is planning to explore further cooperation opportunities in the field of financial services with the city of Shenzhen. The Shenzhen-Macau Cooperation Conference was held yesterday at the government headquarters (pictured). On the sidelines of the event, the Secretary for Economy and Finance, Lionel Leong, told reporters that the cooperation with Shenzhen would aid Macau in achieving its goal of developing specialized financial services. The Secretary also noted the previous support that Shenzhen has offered Macau in terms of the latter’s establishment of system regarding the clearance of patacas and renminbi. Leong further promised that the two cities would continue to push forward cooperation in the MICE, financial services, tourism, education and cultural affairs sector. However, the next phase of the cooperation conference will focus on the development of a logistics hub in coastal areas of Guangdong Province.
