China Space Program delegation to visit Macau over the weekend

A delegation of the China Manned Space Program will visit Macau from Dec. 1-3, the government has announced.

The delegation will be led by Lin Xiqiang, deputy director of the China Manned Space Agency, and also includes the taikonauts Liu Boming, Wang Yaping, Chen Dong and Zhang Lu, respectively from the crews of Shenzhou-12, 13, 14 and 15.

The delegation also includes other experts in the manned aerospace program as well as engineering systems.

During its stay in Macau, the delegation will present developments in aerospace engineering to Macau’s scientific and technological sector, as well as to the education sector with whom they will have in-person exchange sessions.

Ahead of the delegation’s visit, the Chief Executive (CE), Ho Iat Seng, met with the director of the National Space Administration of China, Zhang Kejian, on Monday to discuss the country’s support for innovation and development of science and technology in Macau.

Zhang noted the support from the local government to the national space sector and said that the satellite “Macau Science Satellite-1” has been working well in orbit since its successful launch and achieving important scientific results.

Zhang and the delegation he led also took part in the “Bright Stars and Moon, Wonderful View of the Sea and Sky” event promoted by the Macau Science Center under its Science and Technology activity series. RM
