The Coloane Karting Track has been closed to the public for thorough maintenance, the Times learned.
Among the projects being carried out, the full resurfacing of the track is the most significant.
According to the Sports Bureau, the facility will be closed to the public until November 12.
The renovation work has forced the cancellation of Round 6 of the Automobile General Association Macao-China (AAMC) Motorcycle Championship.
The upgrades are believed to be part of preparations for the 2025 Macau International Kart Grand Prix, scheduled for December.
The event will feature the ROK Cup Asia Final and the IAME Asia Final.
According to IAME Series Asia, the final race has received an overwhelming response from racers and teams across Asia, with most of the slots for the four categories – Cadet, Junior, Senior, and Master – already filled since the registration period opened last month.
The IAME Asia Final is expected to attract 268 racers from the four categories, with races taking place from December 11 to 14.
This year, the track has hosted several international-level events in both two- and four-wheel categories, the highlight being the newly created FIM MiniGP Southeast Asia Series. RM
