wynnChinese New Year is about spending quality time with family and loved ones. Wynn Macau’s Michelin-starred signature Chinese restaurants – Golden Flower and Wing Lei – have prepared auspicious menus for the occasion. A selection of traditional festive cakes will also be available for guests. A Chinese New Year menu will be available at Golden Flower and Wing Lei from February 19 to 25. At the Michelin two-star Golden Flower, Master Chef Liu Guo Zhu has created three-course and four-course set menus, together with a range of delicate Lunar New Year dishes, which highlight “Prosperous family”: chicken soup with abalone, fish maw, prawn and sea cucumber; and deep-fried glutinous rice cake in Beijing style. Executive Chef Chan Tak Kwong of the Michelin-starred Wing Lei has designed a Chinese New Year specialty menu, featuring pan-fried jumbo scallops with morel mushrooms in Chinese wine sauce, and marinated goose web and skewer with barbecued pork and goose liver.
For casual Chinese dining, Red 8 will serve traditional Chinese New Year soup and a variety of northern and southern festive dishes. Known for its specialty dishes from the Northern provinces, 99 Noodles will serve Chef’s Lunar New Year specialties.
Festive gatherings will not be complete without traditional Chinese New Year cakes. Four flavors of Chinese New Year cakes are available for sale and collection from February 2 to 18 at the Wing Lei festive counter.

Volkswagen, Ford take top awards at the Detroit auto show

Volkswagen Cross Coupe GTE ConceptThe Ford F-150 has been named North American Truck of the Year at the North American International Auto Show. The car of the year is the Volkswagen Golf. The press preview days for the North American International Auto Show officially kick off with the awards. The announcements came yesterday morning at Cobo Center in Detroit.
The other finalists for the car award were the Ford Mustang and Hyundai Genesis. The F-150 beat out the Lincoln MKC and Chevrolet Colorado for truck honors. About 60 automotive journalists vote on winners from the list of finalists. A vehicle must be entirely new or substantially changed in order to qualify.
This is the award show’s 22nd year. Organizers accept no advertising, but carmakers try to capitalize on the marketing value of the honors.
