Jiuzhou Customs seizes 16 jadeite items, diamonds from passenger

Jiuzhou Customs, under Gongbei Customs, intercepted an incoming passenger at the port who displayed nervous behavior during a routine inspection. Officers stopped the individual for inspection and discovered items suspected to be jade and diamonds, separately packed in plastic bags. The seizure was sent for professional assessment, and the Guangdong Gold, Silver and Jewelry Testing Center confirmed the items as four jadeite pieces and 12 diamonds, with an estimated total value of approximately RMB70,400. The passenger has been detained for further investigation. Authorities warn that carrying undeclared high-value items into the country without proper declaration may constitute smuggling, which is subject to legal penalties.
