CHINA-TAINAN-EARTHQUAKE-DEATH TOLL (CN)The damage from the earthquake that struck Tainan city in Taiwan has been restricted to a small area and is not visible in other parts of the city, such as the city center, according to local Macau resident Álvaro Mourato, who was traveling in Tainan when the earthquake hit.
The local resident said, “The earthquake went unnoticed by many, and if they had not seen it in the news, they would not have known that there was such a strong earthquake,” admitting that he had not felt it either. The same source told the Times that “all city life is still working normally, shops are open, restaurants too, and there is no visible damage in other parts of the city. The one exception is in the area where the apartment block collapsed.” RM
