Mario Ho joins Boston Celtics as co-owner

Mario Ho, the youngest son of Stanley Ho, has become a co-owner and managing member of the board of the NBA’s Boston Celtics.

The franchise was acquired by an investor group led by William Chisholm for a record USD6.1 billion, the largest buyout in American professional sports history.

Ho expressed his joy on social media, calling it “one of the happiest moments of his life.” The new ownership group includes Wyc Grousbeck, Rob Hale, Aditya Mittal, and others, with Chisholm serving as Governor.

“We are committed to building on the Celtics’ legacy and raising banners,” Chisholm said. “I can’t wait for the team to get back on the court this fall.”

The sale comes after the team’s 18th NBA championship in 2024.

The Wyc Grousbeck investment group, which had owned the Celtics since 2002 when it purchased the franchise for USD360 million, announced its decision to sell. NS
