Recognizing the importance of continuous learning and to promote a deeper understanding of mainland China, Melco Resorts and Entertainment’s management team attended a National Education Executive Study Trip to Shanghai at China Executive Leadership Academy Pudong. A national institution in leadership training and development, CELAP was jointly approved by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and State Council. Since March 2005, it has attracted consistent attention from the Party and leaders. With the aim to serve as a base for educating revolutionary traditions and fundamental realities of China, it enhances leadership capacities of Chinese leaders, and acts as a platform for international exchange and cooperation.
With support from Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in Macau, Melco hosted an exclusive national education study trip for 20 of the company’s executives as part of its “Splendors of China” learning program. The program provides a historical perspective on the wonders and growth of China, from its iconic and historic achievements to its modernization and path of becoming the world’s second largest economy. In addition to providing insight about its largest customer segment, the company also hopes that the program will instill cultural pride in its employees.
“’Splendors of China’ is a Melco-developed learning program designed to help colleagues understand and deliver Melco’s service promise to customers from Mainland China, who account for the majority of our clientele. We are grateful for the support from CELAP and the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR Region, and we look forward to organizing future trips and learning opportunities for our colleagues,” said Mr. Lawrence Ho, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Melco Resorts & Entertainment.
Arranged in collaboration with CELAP, the 5-day study excursion was attended by management representatives from Melco’s various departments. Conducted through taught courses, seminars and site visits, the object of the trip was to broaden participant knowledge of the Mainland’s current national conditions, its history and culture, tourism development, security measures as well as diplomatic approaches. Course content included dialogue sessions on the development of the Greater Bay Area, and site inspections of signature tourism models and cultural preservation such as Zhujiajiao Village in Shanghai’s Qingpu District.
“The excursion was packed with information and activities to keep colleagues up to date with the latest national developments as well as practical issues related to the tourism industry and the Greater Bay Area. As a result, my knowledge and awareness of China’s cultural history, as well as my industry knowledge has been enhanced. I will be sure to recommend future ‘Splendors of China’ trips and related events to colleagues to in order broaden their horizons and strengthen national knowledge and identity,” one of the trip’s participants and class leader, Mr. Lawrence Li, Executive Director, Human Resources of Melco Resorts and Entertainment, commented.
Earlier this year, Melco hosted the “Splendors of China” leadership forum for 800 employees and community members in collaboration with the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR, inviting eminent professor, Dr. Zhu Andong, from Tsinghua University to give a lecture on China’s economic opportunities, challenges and future development trajectory.
