A total of 277 MICE events, consisting of 257 meetings and conferences, 17 exhibitions and three incentive events, have been held in the third quarter of 2016. According to information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC), the total number of participants and attendees was 628,000.
Figures released yesterday indicate that the number of meetings and conferences held in the third quarter has increased by six year-on-year. The number of participants rose by 93.4 percent to 45,000.
The 17 exhibitions held in the third quarter represented a 12 percent decrease year-
on-year.
According to information collected from the organizers of the 17 exhibitions in the third quarter, revenues of these exhibitions amounted to MOP12.79 million, with rental of exhibition booths accounting for 78.8 percent of the total revenue. Expenditure of the exhibitions totaled MOP44.18 million, which was mainly incurred on production, construction and decoration (25.3 percent) and publicity and public relations (23.4 percent).
In the first three quarters of 2016, a total of 905 MICE events were held, and the total number of participants and attendees was 1,215,000. The number of meetings and conferences totaled 843, up by 16 year-
on-year, and the total number of participants rose by 37.7 percent to 106,000.
