French-born fashion designer Hedi Slimane for Yves St Laurent appearing at the end of his ready to wear Spring-Summer 2013 collection presented in Paris
Yves Saint Laurent’s Hedi Slimane has left as the brand’s creative director.
French company Kering SA said in a statement Friday that Slimane, 47, had ended a four-year mission to reposition the couture house. It added that a new creative organization for Yves Saint Laurent will be announced “in due course.”
“I would like to thank Hedi Slimane very much for his vision in reforming such an iconic House as Yves Saint Laurent. The direction that has been taken over the last four years represents an incredible foundation,” Yves Saint Laurent Chief Executive Officer Francesca Belletini said in the statement.
Sales at the brand in the fourth quarter of 2015 grew 27.4%, beating estimates. A report by Bloomberg Intelligence showed that Saint Laurent’s profit growth remained the highest in the group at 68%.
Slimane had worked as Saint Laurent’s men wear designer at the end of the 1990s, before leaving to join Dior Homme. He later left fashion design for five years to concentrate on photography. Bloomberg
