Severed limb linked to floating corpse case found in Zone A

A severed limb was found in coastal waters near the Taipa Ferry Terminal yesterday morning, with the Judiciary Police (PJ) stating the injuries did not result from criminal or violent actions.

The PJ issued a statement in the afternoon indicating that the severed limb is linked to a case involving a floating corpse discovered on July 19. This case involved the corpse of a middle-aged man, who was not a resident of Macau, found floating in the sea near the A3 connecting bridge in Zone A of Macau’s new landfills. At that time, no information was provided regarding whether the body was intact.

The severed limb was discovered by customs officials, who subsequently notified the Judiciary Police. The police determined that neither the body nor the limb showed any signs of injury resulting from criminal or violent acts, adding that officers were currently conducting forensic examinations, including DNA testing, and further investigations to determine the origin of the severed limb.

According to the PJ, the case has been temporarily classified as one involving the discovery of a dead body, with the exact cause of death to be established after further investigation by the forensic medical examination and investigation department. YL
