Police have apprehended a 34-year-old unemployed man from the mainland at the Border Gate. They suspect him of being involved in the robbery of a shop located at the Ruins of St. Paul’s.

The stolen amount was reported to be MOP18,000 in cash.

The suspect was later transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office on charges of aggravated theft. The police said that, in April, a clerk at a handicraft shop reported the theft of MOP18,000 from the store’s cash register. Through investigations, the police were able to identify the suspect who entered the store when its doors and windows were left unlocked.

The stolen cash was taken from the cashier before the suspect left Macau through the border crossing. On May 2, the suspect was intercepted upon re-entering the border port and was brought in for questioning.

During the interrogation, the suspect admitted to spending all the stolen money on the mainland.
