The organizing committee of the upcoming ITTF World Cup Macao 2024 has decided on a mascot of a personified table tennis ball with a bat in one hand, as announced in a statement.

The tournament matches will be held at the Galaxy Arena from Apr. 15 to 21.

The event mascot, BOBO, is named after the Cantonese pronunciation for ball and the local term “Chai” for “little boy.”

The statement explained, “With infectious enthusiasm, BOBO, a playful representation of a table tennis ball donned in player attire, embodies Macau’s spirit of promoting the sport of table tennis.”

The committee also unveiled the slogan and event logo yesterday.

Crafted with silhouettes of swinging rackets, the event logo forms the shape of a lotus flower, a symbol of Macau as stated in the Basic Law. The blooming lotus over the water stripes resembles the emblem of Macau.

“The event slogan, ‘Charming Macao, Blooming Table Tennis,’ encapsulates the distinct culture, history, and scenery of Macau,” the committee said. “It also symbolizes the flourishing of table tennis in this captivating setting, capturing the attention of the world with its exceptional charm.” AL
