Zhu Yuling wins women’s singles title at Doha

Macau’s table tennis star Zhu Yuling has secured the women’s singles title at the WTT Champions in Doha, Qatar, on Sunday evening.

Zhu defeated China’s Chen Xingtong (4-2) in the final.

In a high-intensity one-hour match, the women’s final was characterized by several shifts in momentum, with Zhu losing the first game (11-5) and equalizing in the next (13-11).

Despite losing heavily in the third game (11-3), Zhu regained her composure and focus, winning the next two games, 11-7 and 11-8.

In the final game, Zhu and Chen battled point by point into a deuce, with Zhu eventually pulling ahead and winning (13-11), taking the trophy home.

The victory marks Zhu’s first WTT Champions title since returning to professional competition.

After the match, Zhu said she had been tested to the limit, having competed in two matches in a single day. She said the last day of the tournament was the ultimate test of her physical and mental strength.

Addressing her future, she said she is not ready to end her career yet, adding that she will continue to pursue every competitive opportunity as long as she feels physically and mentally capable of meeting such challenges.

In the men’s section, Taiwanese Lin Yun-ju dominated the final, defeating South Korea’s Jang Woojin 4-0 to claim the men’s singles victory.
