Team Conchita has won the 2025 MGM Macau Tennis Masters after two days of competition marked by a festive atmosphere.
The team led by Spanish former tennis star Conchita Martínez defeated Team Li Na 12–5, captained by former Chinese star Li Na, after six matches and two rounds of the captains’ challenge.
Over the weekend at the Macau Forum, players including Filipino Alexandra Eala, Spain’s Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, and Russia’s Mirra Andreeva, among others, took part in a fun and entertaining event, in which the final result was arguably the least important aspect.
As they prepare for upcoming challenges, the players shared the court and sidelines with fans, offering locals and visitors a rare opportunity to get up close to their idols.
On Day 1, Jerry Shang faced Davidovich Fokina and lost 0–2 (6–7, 5–7) in one of the most competitive matches of the event.
Shang then teamed up with Eala in a highly competitive mixed doubles match against Wu Yibing and Davidovich Fokina, which the latter pair won 0–2 in double tie-breaks (5–7, 6–7).
In the final match of the first day, Wu faced France’s Ugo Humbert in the only match that went to three sets. Wu eventually won 2–1 (4–6, 6–3, 10–6), closing the first day with Team Conchita leading 6–1.

On Sunday, the event’s second and final day, Eala faced Andreeva, the current WTA world No. 9 and top-ranked player under 19. Eala, currently ranked No. 53, lost in straight sets (4–6, 2–6).
In the second match, the two Chinese players faced each other, with Wu winning 2–0 (6–3, 7–5), bringing the overall score to 12–2 in favor of Team Conchita.
The final match of the event finally delivered a win for Team Li Na, with Humbert defeating Davidovich Fokina 6–3, 6–4, narrowing the final score to 12–5.
At the post-match press conference, Humbert referenced the result, saying he was happy to secure a win for Team Li Na.

Humbert also shared his thoughts on the event and his first trip to Macau, saying, “We had a really good atmosphere among all of us. I didn’t know the captain, Li Na, very well, so it was a great opportunity to get to know her better. She was a player I watched when I was young, so it was a great experience.”
He added, “It was also my first time in Macau, and I was really happy to be here and have the chance to discover this beautiful city.”
Eala’s upcoming participation in the Australian Open was also a recurring topic over the weekend.
On the matter, Li Na, a former Australian Open champion, said Eala is still very young but has already gained significant experience, adding that she believes the Filipino player can continue to grow and achieve greater success in the coming years.

Asked about the same topic the previous day, Eala said she has not had much success in Australian Open qualifying, but expressed hope that competing in the main draw for the first time would bring better results.
The 20-year-old has previously played the qualifying rounds three times without recording a win.
At a press conference after the mixed doubles match on Saturday, Eala also said she was delighted by the strong support in Macau, particularly from Filipino nationals living and working in the city.
