Roman Abramovich’s Chelsea won soccer’s English Premier League title after a 1-0 win over Crystal Palace. Chelsea clinched the title for a fourth time in front of a home crowd at the Stamford Bridge ground, west London, yesterday with three games of the season remaining.
Club captain John Terry said winning the title was “an unbelievable feeling.”
“We’ve worked so hard, so to get over the line is great,” Terry told Sky. “It’s been five years since we’ve won it. The first one was special and you go four or five years without it and that hurts. So I’ll really enjoy it today.”
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, who was congratulated by his Palace counterpart Alan Pardew minutes before the end of the final whistle, told Sky it is his “most important title,” before adding, “for sure I will try to get another one.”
