The government plans to amend the “Driving Schools and Teaching Regulations” within 2026, aiming to improve the scope of “refresher lesson” eligibility, learning routes, and certain teaching measures. The Macao Federation of Transportation chairman Cheang Wa Cheong said the regulations, in force for nearly 28 years, are outdated given Macau’s growing vehicle population and increasingly complex road conditions. He suggested adding at least five practice sessions each for truck training and upgrade tests, strengthening safety driving courses for licensed but inactive drivers, and expanding refresher routes to include Cotai roads.
