Two men arrested over alleged illegal online baccarat betting scheme

Two mainland Chinese men have been arrested for allegedly using modified clothing to conceal mobile phones and livestream casino baccarat games for online bettors, a practice known as “electronic betting.” The Judiciary Police said casino security officers reported suspicious behavior by the suspects, aged 34 and 24, at baccarat tables in the NAPE area. Investigators found that the men had hidden phones in modified chest pockets to livestream games and place bets on behalf of mainland clients. The two suspects allegedly handled 15 betting transactions involving at least HKD150,000 and earned illegal profits. They were transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office for investigation.
