Two women arrested for stealing over HKD600,000 left in taxi

The Public Security Police have arrested two women who are suspected of taking over HKD600,000 in cash left behind in a taxi by another person.

In a press conference yesterday, a spokesperson said that through the information provided by the reporter, the taxi surveillance system, and the “Eyes in the Sky” system, two women involved in the case were identified.

On March 27 of this year, the two women were intercepted at the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge checkpoint.

“During questioning, one of the women admitted to being tempted by greed and accepting the bag in question. She also revealed that she had shared the HKD200,000 in cash from the bag with her sister,” said the spokesperson.

“Part of the remaining cash was spent, while the rest was kept at her home in Hong Kong. The other woman denied involvement in the case, but police found HKD70,000 in cash on her,”the spokesperson added. LV
