Information from the Statistics and Census Service indicated that revenues of wholesale and retail trade industry amounted to MOP 108.72 billion in 2015, down by 5.6 percent year-on-year.
Expenditure decreased by 5.1 percent to MOP 99.19 billion, which led to a drop of 22.3 percent in Gross Surplus, while the Gross Value Added which measures the sectorial contribution to the economy, dropped by 10.7 percent to MOP 19.29 billion.
The Gross Fixed Capital Formation soared by 125.1 percent to MOP 3.02 billion.
Receipts of wholesale establishments decreased by 7.5 percent to MOP 34.34 billion, while receipts of retail establishments recorded a decrease of 4.4 percent year-on-year, at MOP 65.90 billion.
Conversely, receipts from retail sales of adult clothing, household appliances and goods in supermarkets rose by 19.7 percent, 63.4 percent and 4 percent respectively.
Meanwhile market stalls and fixed stalls on the street totaled at 1,616 MOP. Revenues, while expenditure of these stalls amounted to MOP 1.75 billion and MOP 1.46 billion respectively, up by 7.1 percent and 7.5 percent year-on-year.
In 2015, a total of 13,995 wholesale and retail establishments, market stalls and fixed stalls on the street were operating, down by 86 year-on-year.
