HONG KONG A South Korean businessman accused of murdering his wife and son in a five-star hotel killed himself while in pre-trial custody. The man was found unconscious yesterday morning in his cell at a Hong Kong detention center. The man was found with a bed sheet wrapped around his neck and was taken to a hospital, where he was later certified dead, a police statement said. Police had arrested him in January for allegedly killing his wife and son at Hong Kong’s Ritz-Carlton hotel.

USA President Donald Trump’s personal attorney will appear in federal court today to argue over evidence found during a recent FBI raid, and porn star Stormy Daniels’ lawyer says she’ll be there, too. Michael Cohen (pictured) is under criminal investigation for personal business dealings and was ordered to appear in court to help answer questions about his law practice. He has denied wrongdoing.

USA Former first lady Barbara Bush is in failing health and after a series of hospitalizations, she has decided not to seek further medical treatment, a family spokesman says. Barbara Bush is the second woman in U.S. history to be both a wife and mother of a U.S. president (George and George W. Bush).

SYRIA Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said that the mission from the international chemical weapons watchdog cannot access the site of an alleged chemical attack near the Syrian capital without an appropriate U.N. permit. Ryabkov’s remarks could indicate a possible attempt to bog down the team from the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons in the wake of the West’s airstrikes in Syria over the weekend.

CUBA The greatest immediate challenge for Raul Castro’s expected successor – 57-year-old Vice President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez – is unwinding a byzantine dual-currency system.
