101 veterinarians accredited under new law

The Council of Veterinary Medicine Professionals has accredited 101 veterinarians in Macau under the new “Law on Veterinary Clinical Care and Commercial Activity of Animals” that took effect Apr. 1. Those accredited have obtained the required education and are qualified to practice in Macau or elsewhere. They must still register with the Municipal Affairs Bureau to practice for two years at a time. The council reviews candidates’ academic and professional credentials to ensure they meet the law’s standards before issuing certificates. Veterinarians must follow professional ethics codes and may face discipline for violations. The council works with authorities to help the field understand responsibilities under the new regulations.
