AMCM warns of fraudulent calls

The Monetary Authority of Macao (AMCM) announced yesterday that it was aware of calls to members of the public impersonating the authority. In the calls, the call recipients were told that they had an important document for collection at the AMCM. The authority clarified that it would never contact members of the public by phone for collection of important documents or for personal information. It has called on the public to exercise additional caution. Meanwhile, if they have any doubts, they can contact the AMCM at 2856 8288 or the Judiciary Police’s anti-scam hotline at 8800 7777.
