Blocked drain causes Cheoc Van pool closure

Cheoc Van swimming pool has been temporarily closed due to its low-lying coastal location, resulting in a pool drain becoming blocked and not functioning properly. As emergency inspection and repair work is undertaken, the pool has been closed from yesterday until further notice. Residents who purchased tickets to the pool will be refunded to the buyer’s online account through the online booking system. 

27th MIF to be held in October

From October 20 to 22, the 27th Macao International Trade and Investment Fair (MIF) will be held at The Venetian Macao, hosted by the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM). This year, the number of “Macau Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) Exhibition Area” booths will be increased from 80 to 160. Special discounts for eligible SMEs in Macau, with a participant fee of MOP500, will also be offered to encourage SME participation. Applications are open from August 8 to 22, to be submitted via IPIM’s online application system. 


Merchandise export plunges 19% in June 

Total merchandise export amounted to MOP961 million in June 2022, down by 19.1% year-on-year, according to data from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC). Value of re-exports (MOP811 million) fell by 20.7%, of which re-exports of Diamond & diamond jewellery and Machines, apparatus & parts decreased by 46.4% and 43.3% respectively, while those of Beauty, cosmetic & skincare products and Articles for casino surged by 105.2% and 94.3% respectively. Meanwhile, total merchandise import went down by 29.8% year-on-year to MOP10.51 billion; imports of Mobile phones and Beauty, cosmetic & skincare products reduced by 82.7% and 56.8% respectively. Merchandise trade deficit in June 2022 totalled MOP9.55 billion.
