WhatsApp scam targets users with fake security alerts
The Judiciary Police have warned of a WhatsApp scam targeting users through fraudulent messages sent from business accounts. Victims are falsely told their accounts are high-risk and must be “verified” to avoid being logged out. Clicking a “START” button directs users to a fake WhatsApp security website, which provides a code that scammers ask victims to enter. Doing so allows fraudsters to take control of the account and potentially target the victim’s contacts.
