A notice in the Official Gazette announced that when Signal No. 8 Tropical Storm or higher is replaced by No. 3 Tropical Storm between midnight and 6:30 a.m., or when Signal No. 3 is still raised at 6:30 a.m., all school activities shall be suspended on that day. Suspension of all activities will also occur when the rainstorm signal is already raised at 6:30 a.m., or when it is raised between 6:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m., and also when the temperature is below zero degrees Celsius or above 40 degrees Celsius.

Five dog breeds are now officially protected

Five dog breeds are now under the legal protection of the government, as announced in a notice published yesterday in the Official Gazette. The five breeds are Tibetan Mastiff, the Brazilian Fila dog and hybrids, Argentina Dogue and hybrids, Pit Bull Terrier and hybrids, and Japanese Tosa and hybrids. Any acquisition, breeding, reproduction, and/or import of the above-mentioned species is officially banned as of yesterday. However, if any of these actions have occured prior to yesterday, then they should be registered at the Civic and Cultural Municipal Affairs Bureau. In addition to that, dogs must also be sterilized within six months.

Pharmacies found selling unlicensed medicines

Two pharmacies, one located at R. de Coelho do Amaral and another at Rua de Francisco Xavier Pereira, have been investigated for illegally importing and selling medicines.  The two pharmacies were inspected last week by the Macau Customs Service and by the Health Bureau. In the latter, 48 bottles of unlicensed medicine were found. The responsible person for the shop claims that some of the medical products had been purchased from Hong Kong, while the rest had been sent to Macau from Korea. This person also claimed to be unaware that these medical products were considered medicine in the city.
