Certificate expiry hits over 10,000 lifts and escalators

The Land and Urban Construction Bureau (DSSCU) has found that over 10,000 “Certificates of Compliance” required for lifting equipment are past their expiration dates following the annual inspection, entering the peak renewal period. According to Law No. 14/2022, the “Elevator and Escalator Safety Legal System,” lifts and escalators must be inspected at least once a year to obtain a Certificate of Compliance before they can be put into service. The safety of lifts and escalators affects thousands of households, and the DSSCU urges responsible persons to remind maintenance entities to perform necessary maintenance and repairs, and to engage inspection entities as soon as possible to conduct inspections and renew certificates.
