A recently published annual government report shows that the number of civil servants increased to 29,965 people in 2013. It also revealed that none of the individuals recruited through the civil servant central recruitment mechanism have started working in any public departments.
The 2013 MSAR Public Administration Human Resources Report indicated that the number of public servants has been increasing at an annual rate of five percent.
The average salary of civil servants in Macau in 2013 was MOP25,896.2 per month, with those in the administrative and bureaucratic departments earning an average of MOP27,512.9 and MOP 22,846.4 for those in the security departments.
Of the 1,106 people who entered the government last year, 35.6 percent were employed with a non-permanent contract and 20.7 percent with the wage contract.
Moreover, the report shows that there are no public servants that have entered the government through the civil servant central recruitment mechanism that came into force in mid-2011. This means that all the civil servants that the government departments have hired in the past two to three years were still recruited through other channels.
