Sands honors students graduating from internship programme

Sands China Ltd. celebrated the achievements of a group of 78 university students at a graduation ceremony yesterday at The Venetian Macao, recognising them for completing the company’s Integrated Resort Internship Programme.

According to a statement issued yesterday, Sands China created the Integrated Resort Internship Programme to give local university students opportunities to work full-time at its integrated resorts on a short-term basis while earning academic credit. By interning full-time in one of 11 non-gaming departments including conventions and exhibitions, concierge, entertainment, e-commerce, food and beverage, and front office, students gain valuable integrated resort experience that is hard to find in the traditional hotel industry. Over 300 students have interned in the programme to date.

Thursday’s graduating class completed their internships between January and May. The year 3 and year 4 students are from local educational institutions including the Institute for Tourism Studies, the University of Macau, City University of Macau and Macau University of Science and Technology, as well as Australia’s Deakin University.
