A group of around 30 Sands Cares Ambassadors went on a nature walk in Coloane last week, cleaning up debris along the coast and mountain, Sands China said in a statement.
The group was led by a guide from Green Future, a local non-governmental
organization dedicated to enhancing communities’ awareness of environmental issues and promoting a greener living environment.
As they walked the Long Chao Kok Coastal Trail, the group also learned about risks posed by non-native invasive species, which have the potential to harm the environment after being introduced from foreign habitats.
The event was in support of the U.N.’s World Environment Day, which occurs
annually on June 5 to encourage global awareness and action for the
protection of the environment.
Sands China’s support of World Environment Day also included a Clean Plate Challenge held from June 5 to 7, which encouraged team members to minimize food waste.
