Trust me, I’m a doctor” is a well known saying that got a Hong Kong citizen into trouble during a trip to Macau, according to a police report that was disclosed yesterday.
The case goes back to December 2015 when the victim, a 57-year-old man, decided to visit the city with a group of Hong Kong friends to have fun at a local karaoke parlor.
Among them was a long-time friend, a 51-year-old medical doctor also from the neighboring region. On December 12, before heading to the karaoke bar as planned, the suspect handed the victim two capsules, which he claimed was a drug to protect his liver since they were planning to spend the night drinking.
The victim took the capsules and after some time started to feel unwell. He was escorted to his hotel room by the suspect, who reportedly asked him to take two more capsules, which the victim did due to his trust in the suspect both as a friend and physician.
As a result of the medication, he lost consciousness, waking up next day at the hospital, where he was taken by his other friends when they discovered him unresponsive.
Although he had been drugged to a point where he lost consciousness, he still vaguely recalled someone touching him and decided to file a complaint with the PJ.
The police investigation determined that he had been drugged with a soporific drug and that the suspect had spent about two hours with him in the room before he was discovered.
On April 10, when trying to enter the territory from Hong Kong, the suspect was intercepted at the Outer Harbor Ferry Terminal.
He confessed that he had touched the victim’s body and tried to have sex with the victim, although he did not manage to do so. The suspect was charged by the Public Prosecution Office with the crime of sexual coercion.
In a separate case, on the morning of April 8, the mother of a 13-year-old girl reported the disappearance of her daughter, who had not returned home for three days.
The mother suspected that she would be with a 17-year-old boy, the girl’s boyfriend.
The investigation found the girl on the afternoon of the very same day at the boyfriend’s house where he confessed that they had sexual relations.
The mother decided to press charges for child sexual abuse.
