David Chow’s company selected to taxi licenses tender

The Transport Bureau (DSAT) has accepted one bid for the public tender that will grant 100 special license taxis. Three companies competed for the licenses that will be valid for eight years. Lai Ou Taxi Service Company was the only one approved by DSAT and is presided by businessman David Chow, who said that the firm has a fleet of Mercedes vehicles prepared to meet the government requirements. Bidders must be able to provide on-call services. At least five taxis with barrier-free facilities for the disabled must also be made available.

Two women arrested for stealing HKD480k

HKD480,000 was stolen from a mainland Chinese man last week, after two young women had spent the night in his room at a hotel. According to the police, the man met the two women at a casino nearby the new border gate. When asked by the duo if they could stay in his room, the man obliged. The next morning he found out that they had left without a trace and had stolen his suitcase which contained more than HKD400,000 in cash along with casino chips. One of the women, bearing the surname Cheng, was arrested when attempting to re-enter Macau. Cheng admitted that she and her partner stole the money and had already split it between them.
