The Public Works Bureau (DSOP) has announced the commencement of a major flood protection and drainage project on the western side of Coloane.
With an estimated budget of MOP560 million, the works are scheduled for completion by August 2027.
The project will deliver a 1,200-meter-long flood protection embankment and includes standards for flood protection of once in 200 years, drainage design of once in 50 years, and pumping station design of once in 20 years.
Located between the northern end of Lai Chi Vun road and the area near Tam Kung Temple, the construction site spans Av. de Cinco de Outubro, R. dos Navegantes, Coloane Pier, and Lai Chi Vun Shipyard.
Materials and equipment will be transported by sea to minimize road disruption.
Temporary hydrological observation stations will also be installed to monitor progress and environmental conditions throughout the project. LV
