Hengqin Lotus Festival to open with Macau collaboration

The 4th Hengqin Lotus Festival will run from June 26 to July 10 at the Hengqin Lotus Garden, showcasing over 100 varieties of lotus and water lilies across 45,000 square meters.
Hosted by the Urban Planning and Construction Bureau of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone and co-organized by the Municipal Affairs Bureau, the 15-day event will feature more than 70 online and offline activities, including a lotus market, photography contest, guided tours, study workshops, and a night market with lantern riddles.
This year’s featured flower, “Xing Fen”, jointly selected by Hengqin and Macau, will lead the display of 90 lotus and 30 water lily varieties. For the first time, a dedicated nighttime lotus viewing area and a night market with lantern riddles have been established.
Educational activities include 30 guided tours and 12 study workshops covering Hengqin’s intangible cultural heritage “He Xiang” (Harmonious Fragrance) craft-making and cloisonné painting.
On weekends, 16 educational game booths will be available. A lotus market and handicraft stalls will offer stamp-collecting check-in activities, lotus building blocks, wind chimes, lacquer fans, and body painting.
The festival is expanding to Hengqin and Macau campuses for the first time, with student artwork on display at the main venue. Macau youth illustrators have been invited to design event logos and cultural products inspired by lotuses and local heritage.
To deepen cross-border ties, concurrent venues will operate at Lou Lim Ioc Garden on June 20, 21, 27, and 28, featuring Hanfu experiences, lotus-themed crafts, interactive games, and information panels.
The photography competition will accept submissions from June 10 to July 4. Registration for select workshops is available through the Macao One Account app. For more details, follow the “Hengqin Urban Planning and Construction Bureau” on WeChat.
