Indonesia grants visa-free entry to Macau passport holders

The government of Indonesia has granted visa-free access to the country for holders of Macau Special Administrative Region (SAR) passports.

The new policy was announced yesterday by the Identification Services Bureau (DSI), which noted that the local government has received notification from the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Hong Kong SAR stating that Macau SAR passport holders can enter Indonesia without a visa for 30 days per entry.

In a press statement, DSI noted that interested parties should refer to the official website of Indonesia’s Directorate General of Immigration for full details on the visa-free arrangement.

In the same statement, DSI advised residents to check the official websites of the countries they plan to visit or consult the relevant embassies or consulates before their trips. Residents should also prepare the required documents according to their circumstances or complete necessary formalities in advance to avoid complications during their journeys.

Residents who hold Macau SAR passports can also refer to the DSI webpage for information on visa-free access or visa-on-arrival arrangements for holders of local travel documents.

Indonesia offers visa-free entry to citizens of several countries, primarily from the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) region, allowing stays of up to 30 days for tourism and business visits.

Eligible travelers must hold a passport valid for at least six months and provide proof of a return or onward ticket. Countries and regions with visa-free access include Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste, Vietnam, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Hong Kong, Macau, Peru, Suriname, and Turkey.
