Islands council raises flood control concerns

The Islands District Community Service Consultative Council held its regular meeting yesterday, with several members discussing the need to strengthen flood prevention and disaster response. Following last month’s prolonged black rainstorm, members urged inspections, dredging, and expansion of drainage systems in flood-prone areas, along with accelerating major flood-control projects. Proposals included adding water-level monitoring points and enhancing landslide prevention measures. Separately, members suggested adjusting the schedule of the 13-week community consumption campaign to better boost local spending.
