International stand-up comedian and actor Jimmy O. Yang returned to Macau over the weekend for a Chinese New Year variety show staged at Galaxy Arena.
The two-night event, held on February 21 and 22, featured stand-up comedy, live musical performances and special guests including Richard O Yang – the comedian’s father – Tyson Yoshi, Jackson Wang and Wan Kwong.
The show also highlighted the “Auntie Good Voices” competition, which showcased female amateur performers from Macau singing live on stage. The crowd was also surprised by the appearance of Auntie Ru from Guangdong Province, who rose to fame on social media by singing English songs, including using Chinese words to piece together English pronunciations with a twist.
Yang is widely known for his global comedy specials and acting roles in Silicon Valley and Crazy Rich Asians. His comedy often draws on personal experiences, cultural identity and Asian stereotypes, using humor to bridge Eastern and Western audiences.
