The Macao Light Rapid Transit Company (MLM), in collaboration with the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC), has launched the “Call for Design Proposals for Artistic Cars for the ‘M2 Light Rail – Urban Art Tour.’”
The project aims to use the interior space of LRT trains as an exhibition venue.
The submission period runs through October 20, and local creators are invited to create original works to introduce more “Original Macau Intellectual Property (IP)” and broaden the exposure of these artistic works.
The rules and application form for this call for entries can be viewed and downloaded on the MLM website or the IC’s website.
In a statement, organizers noted that the “Call for Design Proposals for Artistic Light Rail Carriages of the ‘M2 Light Rail – Urban Art Tour’” aims to transform the cars used for daily commutes into a “mobile artistic stage” with visual impact and cultural identity, enhancing the artistic atmosphere of urban public spaces while simultaneously boosting the development of the local cultural and creative industries.
The plan’s theme is “Original Intellectual Property (IP) of Macau” and is divided into three categories: individual, group and ensemble.
A professional jury will evaluate the works and select two winners across all three categories. In addition to receiving a prize of MOP4,000 each, the MLM will produce limited-edition special LRT trains featuring the winners’ original works, showcasing their creativity.
Interested parties must submit the application form, along with the interior and exterior design proposals for the train cars, to the reception desk at the MLM office, located at Rua do Dr. Pedro José Lobo, No. 1-3, Banco Luso Internacional Building, 26th floor, Macau, during office hours within the submission period.
