Macau adds over 1,100 new firms in Q2

The city’s business sector saw solid momentum in the second quarter of 2025, with 1,107 new companies incorporated, marking a net increase of 824 after accounting for 283 dissolutions, according to the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC).
This represents a quarter-on-quarter rise of 97, reflecting steady investor confidence in the city’s economic recovery.
Most of the new firms were in the Wholesale & Retail Trade (380) and Business Services (326) sectors, highlighting continued demand in consumer and professional markets.
The total registered capital of new companies stood at MOP98 million. Local investment contributed MOP42 million, or 43.3% of the total, while capital from the Chinese mainland reached MOP33 million. Of the MOP12 million from Greater Bay Area cities, Zhuhai accounted for 45.3%. Investment from Hong Kong totaled MOP19 million.
Notably, 71.5% of the new companies were small-scale, registering capital under MOP50,000. In contrast, just 12 firms registered with capital of MOP1 million or more, yet they represented nearly 40% of the total capital.
For the first half of 2025, Macau saw 2,020 company incorporations and 469 dissolutions, amounting to a net gain of 1,551 companies and MOP303 million in total registered capital. LV
