Macau appoints Chui Sai Cheong, Anton Tai to airport board

Macau has appointed former Secretary for Economy and Finance Anton Tai to the board of Macau International Airport Co. Ltd. (CAM), according to an official decree published in the government gazette on Wednesday.

The move, ordered by Chief Executive Sam Hou Fai under Executive Order No. 130/2026, also names Chui Sai Cheong as chairman of CAM’s board of directors and Zhang Yun as both a board member and chairman of the executive committee.

The appointments take effect immediately for a three-year term.

Tai’s appointment also suggests he has completed the handover of his previous portfolio overseeing economic and financial affairs.

Tai joins the board alongside Pun Weng Kun, who has been named to the executive committee on a temporary service commission basis. Pun previously led the Sports Bureau (ID) and most recently headed the city’s organizing committee for the National Games.

The decree also confirms that Simon Chan, the outgoing chairman of the executive committee, will remain within CAM as a member of both the board and executive committee, ensuring continuity during the transition. Andy Wu, president of the Macau Tourism Industry Association, has also been appointed to the board.

The appointments were made under the legal framework governing public capital companies and the statutes of CAM, with remuneration to be determined by the company’s general assembly. For officials appointed on a service commission basis, pension and social contributions will continue to be calculated based on their original public sector salaries. NS
