Macau looks to increase tourist offerings

To attract more international tourists, Macau is promoting one-stop, multi-destination tours of the Greater Bay Area (GBA). Local tour operators report that group travelers from Japan, Thailand, Cambodia, Korea, Southeast Asia, the USA and Europe typically visit Macau in the autumn and winter months. A recent six-day tour group from Cambodia visited Guangzhou, Zhongshan, and Zhuhai before arriving in Macau on the final day. The 22-person group toured attractions such as Fisherman’s Wharf and the Ruins of St. Paul’s, with each person paying around MOP400 for the package.  Local tour guides say “international group tourism has recovered to about 70% of 2019 levels, with Southeast Asian tourists making up 20-30% of that.”
