The pop star Madonna is bringing her “Rebel Heart” tour to Macau in February next year. The US artist is set to perform at Studio City’s Event Center, according to an announcement made yesterday by Melco Crown.
The ‘Rebel Heart Tour’, which will arrive in Macau on February 20 and 21, 2016, is supporting Madonna’s 13th studio album ‘Rebel Heart’ which includes the Billboard Hot 100 hit, ‘Bitch, I’m Madonna’. The hit single features star-studded cameos by Beyoncé, Nicki Minaj, and Kanye West, as well as appearances by Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry, and Rita Ora.
Madonna’s Rebel Heart album (Interscope Records) received good reviews from the press. According to Rolling Stone Magazine, it is  “a long, passionate, self-
referential meditation on losing love and finding purpose in chilling times.” The NY Daily News said: “Rebel Heart’s best moments boast some of the most finely structured pop melodies of Madonna’s 32-year career.”
“We are extremely proud to announce that Studio City, representing Macau, will be one of the key destinations to stage the world’s biggest act at its futuristic event center, alongside the famous Madison Square Garden in New York and The O2 Arena in London,” said Studio City president Mr JD Clayton.
“This is also the first time for Macau to confirm such a world-class concert. With the theater-quality acoustics, premium seating and intimacy provided by the skillfully designed space within our event center, we believe the spectacular musical experience delivered at Studio City will be the most theatrical spectacle ever hosted in Macau’s history,” he added.
The celebrated artist’s tour kicked-off in Montreal last week. According to an Associated Press report, last Wednesday’s show in Montreal included a mix of her iconic hits as well as new music from her recently released album. She even performed “Material Girl” for the first time since her “Blond Ambition” tour in the 1990s.
DJ and producer Diplo warmed up the crowd with an hour-long set.
Madonna, 57, got the biggest standing ovation of the night during her rendition of the French classic “La Vie en Rose.”
According to AP, Madonna joked about her marriages during the show. “Who wants to get hitched? Anybody want to get married? Sucker? It’s downhill from here.” She later followed up with: “In spite of all of that heartbreak, pain and suffering, I wouldn’t trade love for anything.”
After performing for nearly two hours, and changing into countless outfits designed by Miuccia Prada, Jeremy Scott and Alexander Wang, among others, the pop star ended the concert with a crowd favorite.
Draped in a Canadian flag, she had nearly everyone on their feet dancing to “Holiday.” The tour is set to wrap up in Australia in March 2016. MDT
