MGTO promotes multi-destination tourism in GBA

The Macao Government Tourist Office (MGTO) recently organized a two-day visit to Dong’ao and Guishan Islands in Zhuhai City, inviting representatives from overseas tourism organizations accredited in Hong Kong to explore the islands’ tourism resources and potential.

The visit, which took place Oct. 18 and 19, was designed to introduce the characteristics and advantages of the islands’ tourism offerings and to enhance the promotion of Macau and Zhuhai’s multi-destination itineraries and products in the international market.

The delegation included representatives from tourism bodies in Hong Kong, Malaysia, Thailand, South Korea, and Samoa, as well as 11 members of the MGTO’s Hong Kong office.

They were accompanied by officials from the Zhuhai Municipality’s Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports Bureau and the Wanshan Maritime Experimental Development Zone.

During the familiarization tour, the group visited various tourist and cultural attractions, hotel facilities, and major project construction sites on the two islands, gaining a deeper understanding of the tourism resources and development prospects.

Through this initiative, MGTO aims to encourage the representatives of overseas tourism entities to further promote the multi-destination tourism of Macau and Zhuhai in their respective countries.

The goal is to consolidate Macau’s position as a global tourism and leisure hub and highlight its “golden business card” as an international metropolis, while also fostering the development of multi-destination tourism in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area.

The Taipa-Guishan sea route, which began operations in July 2023, is expected to meet the needs of different visitor groups and expand the scope for tourism cooperation between Macau and Zhuhai. Victoria Chan
