MIF celebrates 30th anniversary with triple expo welcoming global brands

The 2nd China-Portuguese-speaking Countries Economic and Trade Expo (Macao) (2nd C-PLPEX), the 30th Macao International Trade & Investment Fair (30th MIF), and the Macao Franchise Expo 2025 (2025 MFE) will take place concurrently from tomorrow to Saturday at the Venetian Macao’s Cotai Expo.

At yesterday’s press conference, Che Weng Keong, president of the Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM), highlighted the significance of hosting these three major trade events together.

He said, “To maximize the synergies in resources and coordination, we have adopted an integrated approach to hosting these three events concurrently.”

This year’s exhibitions will cover nearly 30,000 square meters and attract over 1,100 enterprises from almost 30 countries.

The fair will feature three main zones: the Brand Zone, the Macao International Coffee Festival Zone, and the IP Licensing Zone. Notable exhibitors include Pop Mart International Group, Keenon Robotics, UBTECH Robotics, Tmall Global, Port of Sines, and Prio Energy.

Che also noted MIF’s growing importance, saying, “As Macau’s first UFI-accredited international exhibition, it has become an annual highlight.” Over 80 economic and trade forums and conferences will run alongside MIF to better connect participants with markets worldwide.

“A number of renowned companies from home and abroad have already confirmed participation and plan to forge business partnerships during the three events,” Che added.

He expects about ten major agreements to be signed at the opening ceremony, with many more to follow, including protocol signings involving industry leaders such as AstraZeneca and WI Harper Group.

Regarding the C-PLPEX, organizers report that this year’s edition will feature 320 exhibitors from China and Portuguese-speaking countries, a 23% increase from its first edition. Alan Ho, Project Coordinator for the 2nd C-PLPEX and 30th MIF, said, “Many of these businesses are following up on their earlier engagement efforts.”

This year, the C-PLPEX expo will focus on key sectors like cross-border e-commerce, new energy, agriculture, food and beverages, professional services, and the blue economy. Dedicated exhibition zones will promote China-PSC cooperation in these fields.

Special exhibits include Brazilian football legend Pelé’s classic jersey, making its Macau debut, and IP mascots from the 15th National Games. Meanwhile, the Guangzhou Pavilion will showcase companies specializing in biomedicine and artificial intelligence, supporting deeper ties between GBA cities and Portuguese-speaking countries.

Concurrent events include the 3rd Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area High-quality Talent Development Conference and the China-Portuguese Speaking Countries International Agricultural Expo, Macao 2025.

Organizers report that field visits to business districts in Macau and Hengqin will encourage brands to open their first local stores. Exhibitions will also introduce new projects and products, reinforcing Macau’s status as a hub for international trade and investment.

Under the “Debut@Macao – Project Launch” banner, more than 40 new products aligned with Macau’s four emerging industries will debut. These industries, along with the core integrated tourism and leisure sector, form Macau’s “1+4” economic diversification strategy aimed at creating a more sustainable economy beyond traditional gaming.

The exhibitions will open to trade visitors on October 22, with free public admission from October 23 to 25.
