Music | Composer and pianist Einaudi plays in Macau this June

Italian pianist and composer Ludovico Einaudi will play a concert at the Macau Cultural Centre on June 10. Together with his band, the world-renowned musician will perform a medley of his best compositions on the piano.

According to the New York Times, Einaudi is one of the world’s most-streamed living classical musicians, with about 740,000 Spotify followers.

The composer and pianist is the author of many cinematic soundtracks – such as Aronofsky’s Black Swan, French box office hit The Intouchables or Clint Eastwood’s J. Edgar – and has also composed for ballet, theatre and video installations.

He is admired by a wide spectrum of other artists, from Iggy Pop and Ricky Gervais to pianist Lang Lang. Einaudi’s versatility has also been heard on a string of high-profile commercials, from the NBA and Nissan adverts to BBC’s promotional spots. Back in 2016, Einaudi’s popularity soared when he played Elegy for the Arctic on a floating platform for a Greenpeace awareness video which drew millions of views.

For those who want to find out more about the composer-pianist, there will be a pre-show talk, for which admission is free. Presented in Cantonese, this session will take place at CCM’s Conference Room an hour before the concert.
