Negative Covid-19 test required for outbound passengers

Starting from 6 p.m. today, all passengers leaving the Macau SAR via air or ferry services will be required to present a negative Covid-19 nucleic acid test before being allowed to board.
According to a statement issued by the New Coronavirus Contingency Coordination Center, the test result must be issued in the seven-day period immediately prior the travel and must be included in the certified online Macau Health Code.
The Covid-19 test can be done at Pac On or at the public hospital.
As of midday yesterday, all passengers taking public transportation from Hong Kong to Macau via the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge are required to present evidence of a negative result on the Covid-19 test issued in the last seven days.
Health authorities said the move was to ensure the safety of passengers and workers on the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge buses – most commonly known as Golden Bus, as well as ferry and aircraft crew.
Recently, Macau has also imposed stringent infection control measures at the city’s crossing checkpoints as it remains vigilant following a third wave of Covid-19 cases in Hong Kong.
Special ferry services between the Taipa Ferry Terminal and Hong Kong International Airport’s Skypier for passengers arriving in Macau is being arranged only until this Thursday, primarily to serve Macau residents stranded outside of Macau, as well as foreign nationals in Macau who must return home through Hong Kong.
However, the travel bubble plan is currently on hold as the city is reviewing its guidelines and protocols for quarantine exemptions, as the number of Covid-19 cases in Hong Kong has been increasing.
